Congregational Update #1

Magnolia Church Family,

Your Lead Pastor Search Team has been busy at prayer and at work. We ask that you continue to join us in prayer – for unity in our body, for discernment as we search, and for God to reveal to us the man that He has already anointed to lead our church.

Your team consists of Terry Lowe, Gaye Hawkins, Ted Hosmer, Jennifer Palmer, David Schiessel, Janette Taylor, Stacy McIntyre, Pastor Montia Setzler (ex-officio) and me. We have met with SBC leaders, pastors of large churches (both current and retired), Gateway Seminary leadership, and CBU leadership. We worked to build a candidate profile. We have posted on SBC websites and have been receiving and reviewing resumes.

Our current task is to review those candidates and their submissions. Part of that task has improved with technology. We are reviewing candidate sermons online. How much improved it is versus the old method of traveling to visit a potential pastor in their home church. We are still receiving resumes as they come in and will continue to do so.

As always, we are available to answer any questions that you have. And I encourage you again to be in prayer for our church, the search team, and for the future pastor through this critical time.
